Pizza restaurant with a few non-pizza choices

Visit June 2002. We have been to this particular Pizza Express many times and it is generally of a good standard. However, either the policy has changed or there is a new member of staff who hates smokers.

As two of the party smoke, we requested a smoking table. These are usually available near the door, but this time we were told there was only one and it was not available so we asked if we could wait until it was free. Our orders were taken with a certain amount of disdain and we were later seated near the food counter at the smokers table after being treated as if we had an infectious disease. Aside from this the food was good and the service fairly brisk. 3 starters, 3 pizzas, wine and coffee, around £45.00.

No problem with the smoking table this time, there were more smokers although as all of the tables are by the food preperation area there is a high concentration of smoke by the pizza toppings. It would be more snsible to put the smokers near the door!!
The food was of the usual good standar although I would no longer recommend the Ceasar salad, the lettuce was slimy and the dressing fairly unpleasant, lots of croutons though. It would benefit from proper parmesan cheese. Otherwise, a good meal, pleasant service.

The waiter with the bad attitude has either moved on or had a night off, fortunately.
