Jacksons Restaurant Guide

2001 - 2003

Caffe Uno
High St. Marlow, Bucks

March 2003.
Italian style restaurant chain. The menu is the same as all other branches. Pasta, pizza, and a few meat, fish and chicken options. Very few vegetarian choices on this menu.
This restaurant is fairly busy but in bursts. There were a few empty tables as we went in, but then a crowd of people followed. One party had arrived before us, waited for a good while, and then left as they were unable to get served although the restaurant was not full.
The premises were fairly clean apart from some sugar wrappers and ice cream on the floor at the side of the table. The waitress brushed the remnants of the previous occupants meal on to the floor instead of wiping it with a cloth
We ordered and asked for a bottle of mineral water. The food arrived. We asked again for water. It never arrived. The meal was OK. The wine was not partcularly good although it was priced at over £11.00..
We ordered dessert and tea/coffee. One of the desserts was no longer available (this was around 5.30 in the afternoon, wonder what they planned to serve for the evening trade). There was no white sugar for tea, only brown sugar or sweetener.

The staff were pleasant but forgetful. In our case the speed of service was reasonable but we were lucky in this respect.

We wouldn't bother to hurry back here, there are plenty of alternatives nearby.
